Edible New London is a grassroots nonprofit in New London, Connecticut. They exist to empower their community through urban agriculture and farming in food deserts. It is spearheaded by several other nonprofits in the area such as FRESH New London and the Five Year Agricultural Plan.
I was a volunteer graphic designer for this project where I designed the logo, brand identity, community activations, and website and worked closely with both nonprofits and community members. As this was a collaborative effort with the community, it seems like a great place to show a bit of my design process along with the final results and activations. The budget for this was zero but the energy and support from residents and volunteers kept everything fresh and moving!
We started at logo design which went from sketches to a short list which community members voted on and got us our final logo. From there I designed a website with a focus on accessibility and getting more volunteers involved in a way that met them where they were. Finally, we held a pop-up activation with seed packets to start your own garden, a graphic and information detailing the nearest community gardens to get involved with, and a sticker (cause who doesn't love a sticker).
